We've all been there, not wanting to do something because "it's out of my comfort zone". So how do you gain confidence? Sadly you have to JUST DO IT! Go for it, what is the worst that can happen? Think of the positives, how it could BENEFIT you... Don't think of the negatives such as, what if I lose? What if I fall over? Positive thinking does wonders. Break them barriers & walls down. Long story short - go for it! Enter that competition, do that medal test, go to that first dance class. If the last year and a global pandemic has taught me anything, it's that life is too short for `what ifs` or `I will do it tomorrow`.

Here at MBDC, it's very important to us that everyone feels comfortable and confident in what they're doing inside and outside the studio, here are some tips to help grow confidence while dancing:
1. Practice Practice Practice! Think of it like a written exam, the more you've revised the better you're going to feel on the day. There is no better feeling than walking into a competition thinking "I've done everything I could have done to prepare for today, I am ready". That alone, hard work before anything WILL give you confidence!!!
2. Work On Technique
Having your basic fundamentals is so important in dancing. Technique never changes and can be something you can rely on under all circumstances. Posture is one of the best examples, learning what posture works best for what dance and something that you can work on wherever you may be.
Knowledge is power!!
3. Be Yourself The number of times you try to be like someone else, you could just be yourself which is so much easier! You need to be your own person, don't let anyone tell you to be something you are not. Different is a good thing, standing out at a dance competition, that's good, right? No one gets marked into the final if they're not standing out from the crowed. If everyone stayed the same we would never have so many dance styles, so think about that.. you could be making your own special dance style up! :D
4. Never Stress The best dancers are confident enough to know that a mistake is just that, and they will learn and improve from it. Don’t allow any mistake's/results to derail you. And if it does, make sure you only stop for the shortest time, breathe, have a cuppa tea and then get straight back to it. Don’t let anything stop you from dancing!
